Sunday Morning Adult Ed - "Anti-Racism Training - Session I" with Beckee Birger (NOTE EARLY START TIME)
Sunday, January 17, 2021 • 4 Sh'vat 5781
10:00 AM - 12:00 PMNOTE EARLY START TIME OF 10:00 AM.
Please join us via Zoom (see link below) when Beckee Birger will lead Session I of Hakafa’s Anti-Racism Training. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, we are kicking off a months-long anti-racism training. The training will involve a few large group gatherings, a number of smaller breakout discussions, and some reading and video assignments. The goal is to help us become aware of our own blind spots with regard to race, address society’s blind spots, and learn how we can become effective allies in confronting and dismantling both. We hope you will join us for this first session and through this journey.
Beckee Birger is the Director of Education and Movement Building at the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA). Her passion for social justice has led her through a variety of jobs, such as special education attorney, AmeriCorp program manager, and career advisor at an education non-profit. She believes engaging people of all ages in political education and activism is critical to our future, and she’s proud to celebrate her Judaism through a deep commitment to social justice. In her free time, she’s a co-facilitator of Tzedek Lab’s Political Educators kabal, and she’s an avid board game player.
