Yom HaZikaron Observance

Monday, May 13, 2024 5 Iyar 5784

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Yom HaZikaron – the Day of Remembrance – is the day before Yom Ha’Atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day. On Yom HaZikaron, most of Israel stops at 11:00 a.m. for two minutes in honor and memory of the countless numbers of people who have lost their lives fighting for the survival of the State. As of last year, the commemoration expanded to include Jews who have lost their lives in terror attacks around the world. This year, the day will take on a new, expanded meaning for us at Hakafa.

Join us for a memorial vigil for Israelis who have lost their lives in defense of the State, Jews from around the world who have lost their lives in terror attacks, Israelis and non-citizens who lost their lives on October 7, and Palestinians who have died in the subsequent war in Gaza. This has been a brutal and devastating year for all people in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. We will remember those who died with poetry, song, and prayer.
