Kesher to see "Prayer for the French Republic"
Wednesday, April 23, 2025 • 25 Nisan 5785
7:30 PM - 10:30 PMJoin Kesher* for a performance of "Prayer for the French Republic," a play written by Joshua Harmon and directed by Jeremy Wechsler.
In 1944, a Jewish couple in Paris awaits news of their missing family. Seventy years later, their descendants face the same question: “Are we safe?” Spanning five generations, "Prayer for the French Republic" is a sweeping, darkly funny exploration of history, identity, and survival. Don’t miss the Chicago premiere of this powerful play, blending sharp humor and profound drama in a story as timely as it is timeless.
The cost is $40 per ticket (scholarships available). If you would like to join us, please contact Rabbi Elder ASAP so that tickets can be purchased for you.
*Many Hakafa members have been living their congregation experience through their children. As their children move away, they are beginning to ask how to engage in our community for themselves. Kesher (Hebrew for “Connection”) allows members in this demography to get to know one another, share ideas, and create new and deep relationships. Though geared toward new, recent, or soon-to-be empty nesters, all Hakafa members are invited to join us.
