Shabbat Service and Oneg - Guest Speaker: Essie Shachar-Hill
Friday, November 20, 2020 • 4 Kislev 5781
7:30 PM - 9:00 PMJoin us for our weekly Shabbat Service via Zoom. On this Shabbat, we will be joined by Essie Shachar-Hill as our guest speaker.
November 20 is Trans Day of Remembrance. To commemorate the day, we have invited Essie Shachar-Hill, Chicago’s first full-time trainer and educator at Keshet, to speak at services that evening. Essie will discuss the devastating impact of 2020 on the Trans community in America.
A licensed social worker, Essie earned their B.A. in English and Judaic studies from the University of Michigan, an MSW with a concentration in interpersonal practice with communities and social systems, and a Certificate in Jewish Communal Leadership from University of Michigan School of Social Work. At Keshet, leveraging their vast experience facilitating bystander intervention, bias prevention training, and working with students on empowerment and health education awareness, Essie helps drive institutional change within Jewish organizations to include LGBTQ-inclusive policy, programming, culture and leadership in the Chicago area.
Keshet is a national organization that works for LGBTQ equality in Jewish life.
Our service will be followed by an oneg (BYO).
