Selichot
Selichot
The Saturday evening prior to Rosh Hashanah (or two Saturday evenings prior if Rosh Hashanah begins on a Sunday) is the time to officially welcome the High Holiday season. We do so through communal study and the recitation of penitential prayers (known as Selichot - "forgiveness" in Hebrew).
This year, Selichot falls on Saturday, September 21, 2019.
We will be meeting at the home of
Barbara and Allen Anderson (849 Oak Drive, Glencoe) at 8:00 p.m.
*PLEASE PARK on either the south side of Strawberry Hill or the east side of Oak Drive*
After schmoozing and havdallah, we will have a short learning session with Rabbi Elder.
Following the program, we will hold a brief selichot service, hear the shofar blast for the first time, and finish the night with something sweet to nosh.
Please RSVP to Barbara Anderson and
let her know if you can bring a dairy item, fruit,
or baked-good (without lard) for the dessert table.
