Join us for the next Kesher event for a conversation with Essie Shachar-Hill on the ABC’s of LGBTQ. Essie is the outgoing educator at Chicago’s office of Keshet, a national organization that works for LGBTQ equality in Jewish life. They will present a primer on, among other topics, understanding language and terms, differentiating between gender and sex, and navigating the complexity of identity. They will also answer questions we have and give us suggestions for supporting members of the LGBTQ community in our circles and beyond. Essie has been with Hakafa on a number of occasions over the past few months. They are a wonderful and open presenter. We hope you will join us.
Kesher (Hebrew for “Connection”) is an initiative geared toward new, recent, or soon-to-be empty nesters and their age group who are looking to get to know one another, share ideas, and create new and deep relationships. Though oriented toward this demographic, all Hakafa members are invited to participate.
