Sunday Morning Adult Ed - "Reflections on the Stories of Chelm" with Dr. Sandy Goldberg
Sunday, May 1, 2022 • 30 Nisan 5782
10:30 AM - 12:00 PMvia ZoomPlease join us via Zoom for Sunday Morning Adult Education as Dr. Sandy Goldberg returns to discuss “Reflections on the Stories of Chelm.” There is a distinctive brand of Jewish stories and storytelling that come out of the town of Chelm (the “town of fools”). He will discuss the history of this storytelling tradition as well as explore its significance - with a special focus on what it tells us about Jewish humor and the evolution of the Jewish sensibility in the last 150 years.
Sandy Goldberg is the Chester D. Tripp Professor in the Humanities and Professor of Philosophy at Northwestern University. His research focuses on the nature and social dimensions of mind, language, and knowledge. He has served as Chair of the Board of Northwestern Hillel (2016-18) and as President of Beth Hillel B’nai Emunah synagogue in Wilmette (2018-20). He and his wife, Judy Levey, live in Evanston, and they have three adult children.
