Trope
Trope
Trope is the system of symbols that you find above and below the text of the Torah (in printed form, but not in the actual Torah scroll) and other readings from the Bible (Haftarot, Megillot...etc.). They are the indicators to the chanter how to properly chant the text of the Bible. Trope is, however, much more than musical notes. Its primary purpose is actually to punctuate and accent the words of the biblical text appropriately.
