A native of Port-De Paix, Haiti, Student Rabbi Rene Thomas migrated to the US in 1990 and joined the US Navy in 1994. He held many positions in the Navy, including drill instructor, logistics mentor, and certified correction officer. He received numerous commendations and medals of achievement during his time of service. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College, a Master’s Degree in Health Service Administration from Strayer University, and a Masters of Business Administration from Florida Institute of Technology. He is a member of Beth Shalom, Bene Zaken Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation in Chicago and is working toward ordination under the leadership of Rabbi Capers C Funnye.
