Tisha B'Av: Brokenness & Repair

Sunday, August 3, 2025 9 Av 5785

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Tisha B’Av is the saddest day on the Jewish calendar, a time when we remember the destruction of the Temples in Jerusalem and reflect on the brokenness still present in our world. This year, we invite you to honor the spirit of Tisha B’Av by joining us for a brief service and cemetery clean-up. In tending to this sacred, fragile space, we symbolically begin to repair what has been broken.

Parts of the cemetery are extremely old and have not been well maintained over the years. Some graves are broken, weathered, or damaged, and the grounds need our care and attention. By showing up, we bring dignity and restoration to this holy place, acknowledging our commitment to Tikkun Olam, repairing a broken world.

Please wear gloves and closed-toe shoes, and bring garbage bags, lawn bags, and light gardening tools if you have them. If you’re able to take a bag or two of refuse home for disposal, it would be a great help.

Contact Rona for cemetery location.
