Hebrew School Procedures

We sincerely appreciate your cooperation with and attention to all the procedures listed below.
The safety of your children is our priority.

Contacting Us During Hebrew School
If you need to reach the staff or your child during Hebrew School, please do not call/text/email your child on his/her cell phone. You can contact Bibi on her cell phone (847-650-7720) or Rona on the Hakafa phone (847-242-0687).  You can also email Bibi or Rona.  If you need to get a message to your child, we will make sure s/he gets it.

Please use the parking lot located in back of the Takiff Center for drop-off no earlier than 4:00 p.m. If you do arrive early, we ask that parents remain with their children until there is a Hakafa staff member available for adequate supervision.

Hebrew School is located in the Community Hall wing of the Takiff Center. Each Tuesday, students gather in the Community Hall where they wait, with supervision, until their teachers pick them up for class at 4:15 p.m.

Please use the front parking lot (Green Bay Road) for pick-up at 6:00 p.m. Remember to park your car in a designated spot if you are going inside to pick up your child. Please follow the carpool line where students will be picked up from the sidewalk and be sure to pull your car all the way forward so the line can move more quickly. Students will not be allowed to meet their parents in the Takiff Center lobby or walk to any parked cars unless accompanied by an adult.

Leaving Early
If your child needs to leave class early on a Tuesday afternoon, parents must park and go directly to the classroom for pick-up. Teachers will not release students unless a parent comes to the classroom. If your child is in services at the time, he/she will need to be picked up before or wait until services are over to leave.

Cell Phones
New this year:  All student cell phones will be collected at the beginning of class and returned at the end. Please be aware that cell phone use is not allowed at Hebrew School.  All cell phones brought to school must be turned off completely during school and turned in to the teacher. Please do not call/text your children during school hours. They will not be able to phone or text you back.

Babysitter Contact Info
If you have a babysitter who will be picking up or dropping off your child on a regular basis, it is important that we have your sitter's cell phone number. Please email Rona with your sitter's name and cell phone number so that we can have this on file. If your sitter changes during the year, be sure to keep us updated, too.
